Why is passion important to business?

You have to love what you do – otherwise you will never succeed in life. If you love your work, you will work tirelessly, try to surpass your achievements and eventually become much more enjoy life. The most important moments on the road to success is to know your business and love what you do. This allows you to solve many complex problems.

Here is the very first paragraph from my first book, The Art of Making Deals: “I don’t do this for money. I have enough money – more than I can ever need. I do it for the sake of the case itself. Making a deal for me is an art. Someone writes beautiful pictures on a canvas, someone writes wonderful poems. I love to make deals – and preferably big deals. I catch my buzz in it. ”

Twenty years have passed since then, but I still make deals – big deals. And on it still I catch the high.

It works. I surrender to my passion – and the money is floating towards me. Now I am much richer than when I wrote my first book. I am so passionate about my work that for me there is no better occupation in the whole world – and this is a great feeling. Sometimes I can’t even fall asleep. I really want to get up and surrender to work again.
Do not think about how to make money. Think instead: what useful and valuable things you can do for people in your city or district. What needs to be changed for the better? What should be done more efficiently? What problem could you solve? What needs to satisfy? And – most importantly – what kind of work would you enjoy?

Of course, you need to get money for your work – and you will get it if you do something of value to others. In a game called Life, money is a way to count points. But you get real pleasure not from scoring, but from the joy you feel when you find a creative way to “score the ball into the goal”. Find your passion in doing something useful for others – and the money will come.

This may seem a simplification, but I earned more than one billion dollars, adhering to this simple philosophy. Many are still convinced that I started, already having a lot of money I received from my father. In fact, at the beginning of my business career, I practically had nothing. My father did not give me a lot of money – but he gave me a good education and a simple formula for success: do what you love.

Look around for whatever you are doing, your mission, some big goal besides money, something that can arouse your passion. Find something higher than the greed of people who care about nothing but money. Expand your horizons. Satisfy the needs of people in everything they can. Create beauty, increase efficiency, ensure a healthy lifestyle and financial security, create an opportunity to earn money for as many people as possible.

If you want to do really big things, you need to be filled with enthusiasm and passion. Any work, if you do it for real, requires passion. The gatekeeper, waiter, clerk at the reception desk greet every visitor with joy. No matter what kind of work you are doing now. Do it with all passion – and a miracle will happen. You will cross with the right person – and you will be noticed. I have seen this many times. And how much more passion you need to become a great entrepreneur or creator! Find a worthy occupation – and indulge in it with all the passion of the soul and heart.

Without passion, life becomes dull and dull. Passion gives a person inner strength that allows you to stand and not give up. My victory with the Grand Hyatt project would have been impossible without dedication, perseverance and hard work. I passionately love to turn unnecessary and abandoned things into useful and beautiful things, and this aspiration has supported me in all trials. My enthusiasm attracted many other people to my projects — people who shared my dream.

How to find in yourself this passion? Try this. For the moment, set aside all prejudices and rational evaluations. Start dreaming about what you really would like to do with your whole soul. If you were destined to do one thing in your life – what would it be? What are you able to do with such passionate dedication that will make you forget about time? What gives you such pleasure that you are ready to do it under any circumstances, even if you are not paid a cent? What can take you beyond reality and bring true inspiration?
But be realistic. Doing what you love means doing what you know how. Think about your strengths. Find what you can do well. Think of your unique abilities, what you have already done – and what you are proud of. What is given to you most simply? And, as long as you think about what you love, think globally! Think big achievements. About the joy of accomplishment that your work will give you.
